The last bigger revolution in ocean shipping took place in the Sixties of the last century. The first container ever to reach a German port was in May 1966. During the following decades container shipping increased in double figures, many times more than the rest of the world economy.
Now that we have reached a new millennium, the boom of container business is still unbroken. .
Seafaring can be best explained with its own maritime vocabulary. Sometimes, we find ourselves on the crest of high freight rates.
But after every high tide there follows a low tide and after every wave crest there is a trough.
Such natural laws also count in the shipping business.
We have established clear priorities on this issue. We trust our small and flexible operating fleet and our highly motivated crew aboard, as well as our team we have at our main office located at the Hamburg Fish Market area.
This gives rise to many nicely sounding details but there is the saying that the truth lies in the high seas. Our policy consists of long term contracts with our employees, growing personal bonds amongst our co-workers over the years and our managing directors who used to be captains themselves and are regularly inspecting each of our vessels and conduct discussions with their captains and crew to set up all necessary work aboard.
In the seafaring business personal contacts are even more of importance than in most other business areas. Many deals are still agreed on by handshake and old traditions are actively maintained.
We, the André Wieczorek Shipping Company, feel most obligated to such traditions and do not see any contradiction in fulfilling the requirements of modern communication and certification at the same time. This has also led us to cooperate closely with the Shipbroker Walther Möller & Co (Gmbh & Co. KG) with whom we have been sharing our new office building in Hamburg since the spring of 2005.
