Shipping Line André Wieczorek: Company History
In 1985 Captain André Wieczorek founded his company “André Wieczorek Ship Management” in St Peter-Ording and, at the same time, acquired the coaster MV "Freya”.
The vessel was fraught by the company Peter Döhle and used mainly in short trade traffic between East Germany (GDR) and England. MV "Freya” was sold in 1990 to a company in Trinidad.
As a replacement, and in partnership with the Shipping Line Jochen Döhle, the container vessel MV "Leana” was purchased.
The vessel was under charter by the Danish company Unifeeder, mostly active in European waters and was deployed under charter by Seaboard Marine in the Caribbean 4 years later. In 1995 the MS "Leana” was sold and replaced by a new acquisition, the Multi-purpose vessel MV "Clara".
The MV "Clara" was directly operated by the “Shipping Line André Wieczorek” for the London chartering company “International Shipbrokers” through 2003 when it was sold.
In the same year the multi-purpose vessel MV "Marc-André” was purchased. The vessel has been fraught by the Dutch Company Wagenborg. In the autumn of 2003 the “Shipping Line André Wieczorek” was assigned to take over the management of the MV "Effort” by the Hamburg Capital Invest.
The MV "Effort” was profitably sold in November 2004.
During July and August 2004, 4 container sister-ships were added to the fleet, the MV "Jan Mitchell”, the MV "Marc Mitchell”, the MV "William Mitchell” and the MV "George Mitchell”. All four sisters were sold end of 2008.
In March 2005 the Lilly Mitchell (417 TEU) joined the fleet followed by MV "Egon W." in November 2005. Built at Scheepswerf Peters(NL), the Egon W. is specially designed for the Finnland trade up to lake Saimma.
